Frequently asked questions

How does OnYourWay work for college students?: OnYourWay is popular with students heading home for breaks, commuting between campuses, or carpooling to games and events. Post a trip if you're already driving — or find a seat on a trip someone else has listed. Either way, you share the cost of the drive.
Can I use OnYourWay to get home for the holidays?: Yes — break travel is one of the most common use cases. If you're driving home for Thanksgiving, winter break, or spring break, post your trip on OnYourWay and share the cost with students heading the same direction. If you need a ride, check the app around break dates.
What should I know before requesting a seat?: Before confirming a trip, you can see the Poster's profile and reviews in the app. Posters and Riders communicate directly through OnYourWay before anything is confirmed — take a look at the trip details and use your judgment. OnYourWay facilitates the connection; the carpool itself is between you and the Poster.
How is the fare decided?: Posters set their own fare when they list a trip. Fares are meant to cover a share of the drive cost — not to turn a profit. Posters can mark their fare as "Fare Negotiable" if they're open to offers from Riders.
Do I need the app to find a ride?: You can browse upcoming trips on this site, but you'll need the OnYourWay app to request a seat or post a trip. It's free to download on iOS and Android.
